The 8 Basic knots

 

• Thumb (Overhand) knot

           -Uses & Functions

               Temporarily used  for "stopping" the end of a rope from fraying

• Clove Hitch
• Using Loops
  
• Using End
  
• Using Hitches

               Used to attach a rope to a pole

• Reef (Square) Knot
  

          -Uses & Functions

              Used to tie two pieces of string or twine together

• The Figure of Eight Knot
  

            -Uses & Functions

                Commonly used for "stopping" the end of a rope from fraying

• Sheepshank
  

           -Uses & Functions

               Shortens rope without cutting them

• Fisherman's Knot
  

           -Uses & Functions

               Used for joining small and equal diameter ropes together

• Sheet Band (magic) Knot
  

           -Uses & Functions

               Mainly used to tie rope of unequeal thickness

• Bowline
  

           -Uses & functions

               Used to tie a loop at the end of a rope
